External structural repairs to brick-clad high-rise buildings

Robin M Brown, of the Scottish Special Housing Association, has been involved in the co-ordination of a 5 million programme of external structural inspections and repairs to high-rise blocks in the west of Scotland from 1984 to the present. This article related experiences gained on brick-clad multi-storey blocks, including details of the inspections, causes of damage, typical defects and the practical aspects of executing repairs.
